Company profile

Giovanni Gerbi, nicknamed the Red Devil. A sporting devil, a legend, a cyclist who always wanted to win at all costs and who earned that nickname thanks to his typical attire: a red jersey that reflected his ready-to-challenge attitude, the kind that never gives up. Legend has it that during a race, he managed to scare a country priest who, seeing that cyclist in a red jersey causing a commotion by bursting into a procession on his bike, exclaimed: “Chiellì a l’è al diau!” (That one is the devil!). Hence the nickname “Red Devil”.

Sung by Paolo Conte in his album “Appunti di viaggio” in that song that “perhaps tastes of ratafià”, a beloved and celebrated ancestor, today the company D. Barbero presents its liqueur.

An ancient liqueur brought back to light by the discovery of an old bottle that still preserved its original, also typically red, liqueur. The Davide Barbero company currently produces its products in the old factory of the Gerbi family, as evidenced by the sign still present in the company courtyard.
